what are bible chapters called

The segments that divide the books of the Bible are called chapters. There's no special, unique name for them beyond that. While verses are numbered within each chapter, the chapters themselves are simply numbered consecutively within each book. The chapter divisions we use today weren't part of the original biblical texts. They were added later, a process that occurred over centuries and involved different scholars and approaches. Therefore, the term "chapter" is the standard and universally understood designation.
